What the flat fare saves you arguing about
The value of a closed price is not only the number. It is everything the number takes off the table before you get in.
The fare admits no supplements, so there is no charge for luggage, for the terminal, for a night arrival or for a public holiday within that journey. It also does not move if the car sits still on the A-2 for forty minutes. Outside the fixed fare those surcharges do exist, including the special €7 applied to journeys on 24 and 31 December.
When the taxi is worth it
An honest comparison is per person rather than per journey, because the two systems charge for different things.

Why the rules look nothing like the metro’s
Taxi and metro belong to different authorities, which is the reason their fare logic has no family resemblance.

What changed in the 2026 fares
This year’s revision is easier to read backwards, because what held still says more than what moved. The council applied an average rise of 2.36 per cent, under the 3 per cent inflation figure recorded in November 2025.

Two of those had been frozen for years. Tariff 7 had not moved since it was created in 2019, and the December supplement had stood still for more than fifteen years.
